Advantages: Of all the Cosmetic Dental Procedures, dental bonding is one the easiest and least expensive. Dental bonding can usually be done in the office and in one visit, unlike crowns and veneers which are manufactured in a lab and are more costly. Bonding also offers the advantage of having the least amount of tooth enamel being removed, compared to crowns and veneers. Another advantage is that anesthesia is usually not required, unless dental bonding is being performed to fill a cavity.
Disadvantages: Although the material used in dental bonding is somewhat stain resistant, it does not resist stains as well as crowns. Another disadvantage is the bonding materials don’t last as long. They aren’t as strong as other restorative procedures, such as crowns, veneers, or fillings. Additionally, bonding materials can chip and break off the tooth.
